I'm a total cruciverbalist (2009-02-04)
I'm completely addicted to solving my NY Times puzzles on my calendar first thing each morning with a cup of coffee in one hand, my pencil in the other. NY Times puzzle authors are the best. They are creative, have a great sense of humor and often amaze me with their brilliance. The Friday puzzles are always the best - fewer black squares! I've been receiving this calendar as a Christmas gift for years. In fact, if I only get this calendar and nothing else, I'm happy.
Practice makes - er, better anyway (2009-02-02)
There is a wonderful consistency to the New York Times crossword puzzles that lets you gauge your improvement from practice. Every week works through the same pattern, starting with Monday with straightforward clues and getting gradually more challenging and trickier through the following days. Most people start with having to do "research" just to get through Monday and after a few months can get through about Wednesday, given enough time, on their own. It can take years to get consistent on the latter part of the week, but it is always possible to enjoy the cleverness and wit of the creators of each puzzle and the everpresent genius of Will Shortz as the editor.
smarty pants (2009-01-22)
A great way to keep your mind sharp! But be forewarned that the puzzles get more and more challenging as the week goes on. My husband gets one of these every year. I am not sure if the puzzles are repeats of the ones previously published in the paper, they might be.
Compilation of 2005 & 2006 NYT Crossword reprints into a page-a-day calendar (2008-11-21)
This page-a-day desk calendar features 313 consecutive New York Times daily crossword puzzles originally printed between June 2, 2005 to December 8, 2005 and January 2, 2006 to June 24, 2006. This series aligns with the normal Monday to Saturday progression of difficulty. Saturdays and Sundays share a calendar page and feature a Saturday puzzle.
The puzzle grids measure about 3" x 3" on the page, while each full page measures about 6" x 5". The lower right corner even features a few square inches of blank space for use as an actual desk calendar. The tear-off pages offer portability - I often keep a few pages in my planner for use in waiting rooms, train rides, etc. The front two pages are small 2009 and 2010 calendars that can be removed and conveniently posted elsewhere at a desk.

$12.99Identical at first glance—yet anything but. Take two pictures of a Fourth of July parade. At first glance, they're the same. At second glance, not at all! A girl's shirt has changed color, and where exactly did the stars on that flag go? Adapted from the New York Times bestselling series LIFE Picture Puzzles, this addictive calendar is fun for the entire family.
Each day features two seemingly indistinguishable full-color photographs. But they contain subtle discrepancies that it's your job to spot. Puzzles are organized according to difficulty, and include solutions on the backs of pages.

never again! (2009-04-06)
This product was a nice idea BUT the picture is TOO SMALL to be able to see and spot any differences. I feel the $10+ I spent was a waste of money
Warning, contains some of the same puzzles as at least one of the books (2009-01-06)
I bought this item at the store one-day on auto pilot. I should have looked more carefully. The back of the box shows some of the pics in the calendar. This includes at least one picture that I already did through purchasing The Ultimate Picture Puzzle (2007, ISBN: 1-60320-751-1). (This book is the one that has the surfboards stacked up on the beach on the cover, forest green and lime green colors.) I don't have the other books, but I can only assume that they have also been copied.
Even though I own just one of the books, flipping through the calendar, I did spot about twenty I had already done. And that was how many I counted without looking at every page, so I suspect there's actually going to be more. I know that I won't necessarily remember every difference, but so far I was able to remember a lot of them. Further, I'm now discouraged from buying more of the books, because I don't know which books will contain ones I've already done from the calendar. (That seems a poor marketing choice to me - anger your customers who are already fans of the series.)
Anyway, if you're still interested, then the calendar is a very similar style to the book. Answers are written on the back of the next day's page. Pictures are presented in full color in most instances, along with some black and white ones. There are a few of the pages in which you instead determine how different boxes are put together to form one picture, rather than the standard spot the differences. The pages with spot the differences have two pictures one on top or beside one another and tell you how many differences there are and how much time a competitive person would likely need to complete the puzzle. There's room to mark off your differnces on each sheet. Differences are what you'd expect (slight changes in size, changes in color, changes in shape), some are a lot more obvious than others. Each of the puzzles is ranked by difficulty (i.e. novice, master, expert). Saturdays and Sundays are combined onto one page. The calendar pages are contained within a red stand. I appreciate the fact that it is not a calendar where you tear each page off, but actually you just can pick each page up and then move it to the back (i.e. stacked like a deck of cards). However, I don't really see any reason to keep any of the pages, unless there is one that you can't find all the answers to and want to come back to (it's early in the year and we are on novice, but that hasn't happened to me yet.), or unless you're not writing on the calendar and will pass it along later. You can seem to complete the puzzle with it still in the red stand, but the stand does encroach a little bit on some of the pics, so you might have to remove a few of them to complete them.
It also appears to function fine as an actual desk calendar. The month, date, day of week, and any holidays are written on each page and are easy to read.

NYT Sunday Crossword Engagement Calendar (2009-02-27)
Fabulous and challenging crosswords. Weekly calendar has light lines to write your appt's on or whatever you want. One of the things I really like about this NYT Xword product is the high quality thick paper it is published on. No more cheap puzzle books with newprint quality paper that rips if your pencil or your pen's nib is too sharp. The spiral binding makes it easy to open and lay flat. The puzzles, quality of production, and ergonomicallly friendly format make this a must purchase year after year. It's so great everyone in the family wants their own copy.

Wonderful Christmas tradition was started 5 years ago. Because my daughter loves the puzzle and planner together, she has come to expect to see this gift under the tree each year. She loves this style the best.

$12.99The Original Sudoku Calendar is on the up-and-up. Because these puzzles, printed in lively full color, are simply the best you'll find anywhere. From Nikoli, the Japanese publisher that invented Sudoku, they are completely handmade—which means every puzzle is like a mind game between you and its creator. Nikoli's grids have an elegance that computer-generated puzzles don't; they strike the perfect balance of challenge and solvability. The calendar features easy puzzles each weekend, with progressively more difficult ones over the course of the week.

Great gift for a puzzle lover! (2009-02-28)
This makes a fantastic gift for your friends or family that like to do Sudoku. The print is large and the puzzles are fun, all wrapped up in a calendar!
Daily Sudoku Entertainment (2009-02-11)
The two prior years I had a Sudoku calendar that varied from hard to difficult as the week progressed. If I didn't get to it on a daily basis, they would fit in my purse so I could do while waiting places. This former calendar seems to have been discontinued so I bought "The Original Sudoku". The sheets, while easy to see are too big for my purse and the puzzles are all too easy (I like a variety of levels.)I also prefer a harder puzzle on the weekend when I have more time to do it and this one combines two easy ones on Sat and Sun which I don't like. Otherwise it is fine, the sheets are easier to remove than the pad style and works well as a calendar.
Engaging Sodoku Calendar (2009-02-01)
The Soduku Page-A-Day Calendar sits next to my chair waiting for me every day: The Original Sudoku Page-A-Day Calendar 2009 (Page a Day Fun & Games Calendr) The sodoku can be solved with logic and no guessing is required. It progresses in difficulty from Monday to Friday with Saturday and Sunday easy. Large squares, engaging, challenging, fun brain activity!!
I love this calendar! (2009-01-18)
I purchased this calendar because I love to do Sudoku puzzles every day. Other page-a-day calendars combine Saturday and Sunday into one puzzle, but not this one. There is one puzzle per day. The pages are colorful and the spaces are large. (Except for the Saturday and Sunday puzzles which are shrunken down to fit 2 puzzles on one page) I highly recommend this calendar!
Original Sudoku (2009-01-07)
