Perfect for 1st Time Parents! (2010-01-05)

I love this calendar for a couple reasons:
(1) It's a good way to keep track of what week you're in and how many days you have left until your due date
(2) Most of the daily entries are helpful (particularly the weight/length/growth ones). There are a few entries that are completely useless (particularly near the end when baby has all its essential organs and is just growing) but it's still a nice reminder that baby is coming soon
(3) It's a way for my husband to feel involved. We read the entries together and it helps him get an idea of what is going on with baby.

I definitely recommend that you go through the calendar as soon as you get it and write the dates on each page, since we sometimes skip a day or two and need to read multiple at one time. A couple friends have gotten this for the grandparents-to-be and recommend this as a great gift so that the grandparents also feel involved in the process.

disappointed (2009-12-13)

Perhaps as a first time pregnancy I was a little TOO involved in reading about embryonic or childhood development (my husband and doctor would probably agree wholeheartedly!) but the trivia that was supposed to be really interesting in the countdown calendar was generally information that I'd already read previously except for the comparison of the baby's size to kitchen items (for example produce, etc.). I found the book "What's going on in there? How the Brain and Mind Develop in the first five years of Life" to be a MUCH more interesting, although it is not progressive like a calendar (today this happens...).

A great product! (2009-06-09)

I really like this calendar. I'm about 10 weeks pregnant now and I really enjoy reading what's going on with my baby every day. I would highly recommend this calendar!

Perfect Gift for Expectant Parents (or Grandparents) (2009-04-01)

Julie B. Carr's pregnancy journal COUNTDOWN TO MY BIRTH: A Day-By-Day Account from Your Baby's Point of View is another wonderful idea for someone who is expecting a baby. I sure wish I had had COUNTDOWN TO MY BIRTH when I was pregnant.

COUNTDOWN TO MY BIRTH is a daily account of a pregnancy as told by the unborn baby. It actually looks like one of those flip calendars, but it is also a journal (it even includes cute little stickers.) The premise is similar to MAKING ME -- you countdown the 40 weeks of your pregnancy by changing a page each day. Each page give you a little hint about what is happening with your baby on (or around) that day. It's especially cute since it's written from the baby's point of view. There is also a place for today's date, how many weeks and days you are into your pregnancy, and how many days are left. I also like that it has small section for the expectant mother to take notes. I like that you could capture your thoughts and feelings about your pregnancy using this calendar.

I would have loved it if someone had bought this journal for me when I was expecting. Truth be told, I probably would have bought it for myself had it been available. It makes a wonderful gift for the pregnant woman in your life, but it also would be a wonderful present for the expecting grandparents too! Check out the author's website Unique Pregnancy Gifts for more great gift ideas!

Great....BUT...... (2009-02-18)

I bought this months ago for a previous pregnancy that I miscarried. I am now using it again and enjoy it a lot. The only this is that I am 14 wks today and when I flipped the page, it said 15 wks. From 14 wks day 1 to 14wks day 6 is MISSING! Too bad! I hope that I just got a dud.

Right in synch with my pregnancy (2009-12-05)

There have been a couple of times where I read the daily devotional and was surprised at how right 'on' the message was for the day. The authors do a good job of tying the message to your feelings/symptoms and it is comforting. They know what they are talking about. I am more of a spiritual Christian than an active regularly-attending-church type Christian and I didn't feel the messages were preachy or holier-than-thou (which some religious books can slip into.) I would recommend this to a friend who wanted to steady herself emotionally during pregnancy.

LOVE IT! (2009-09-17)

I love this book! It's the only devotional that I could find to use during my pregnancy. It's so helpful to be able to read the scriptures and have a story to go along with them. I read it every day and sometimes I go back and read others that I have enjoyed. I have even held on to many of the verses that are in the book as personal favorites!

It's O.K. (2009-07-05)

This book hasn't been able to hold my attention enough to do it daily. I was looking for something with more biblical references. This is just O.K.

Don't expect much spiritual growth from this title (2009-06-22)

Unfortunately this book did not meet my expectations. If you're looking for something on the lighter side, with tidbits of faith and scripture to spend a few minutes with each day, this is right up your alley. But if you're searching for an in depth bible study or devotional that will ask you to truly search your faith for the strength to parent, you'll want to keep looking. The book is well represented as "prayer and inspiration," so I take full responsibility for my misinterpretation of the content, but take heed. You won't find much spiritual growth or challenge inside the cover.

Great book! (2009-05-14)

I love this book, I don't keep up with it everyday, but I choose to read a few at a time. My only suggestion to make it better would be to also label the devotions by week, not just day. Every time I flip it open I am multiplying the number of weeks I am pregnant by 7 days in my head to make sure I don't read ahead! The writing is very comforting, especially to first time mothers-to-be such as myself. The entries make you think and reflect. It would make a great gift to any mom-to-be.

What to Expect Pregnancy Planner

Authors: Heidi Murkoff, Arlene Eisenberg, Sandee Hathaway B.S.N
Publisher: Workman Publishing Company
Publication date: 2002-08-15
ISBN: 0761127453
Pages: 24
Rating:
Price: $10.95

Introducing the newest addition to the WHAT TO EXPECT family: an indispensable "dateless" 42-week pregnancy planner and appointment-keeper for the wall that starts the day a woman discovers she's a mother-to-be and continues through delivery. Created by the authors of America's pregnancy bible with over ten million copies in print, this is the perfect place to record personal pregnancy dates and notes while keeping track of appointments, questions for the doctor, fetal movements, shopping lists, weight gain, and anything else.

A 10" x 10" wire-o-bound grid, the conveniently sized planner will hang in the office, kitchen, bedroom, or wherever it's needed. It covers 42 weeks (the usual 40-week gestation period, plus two extra weeks in case baby arrives late), displaying two weeks on each page. Weeks 1 to 22 are on the front pages. Then flip the entire calendar for weeks 23 to 42 on the back. Not only are the dates left to be filled in, but the days are, too. So if Day One for a woman is a Wednesday, that becomes the lead-off day on the grid. The planner is illustrated throughout with full-color watercolors by Judith Cheng and packaged in a decorative gift box, The WHAT TO EXPECT PREGNANCY PLANNER is a must-have for every expecting woman.

Reassuring tips and advice appear on every page.

Great Calendar (2009-12-22)

This is a very nice 'dateless' calendar (you insert the dates based upon your due date) that helps keep a record of your pregnancy. If you are looking to write a lot I would recommend getting a journal, but this is very nice to write down little 'one liners' on each day of your pregnancy.

LOVE IT! THIS IS MY 3RD ONE!! YES THIRD CHILD (2009-08-26)

I got the 1st one as a gift. Bought the 2nd and 3rd one. I love it The information it gives and space for notes.

Loved the calendar!! (2009-07-24)

Totally recommend this item for any expectant mother. I enjoy looking back at it and reading/remembering all the special moments while I was pregnant.

Expectant Monther (2009-04-29)

I bought this calendar for my first pregnancy and liked it so much I bought it for the second.

Cute, but probably not worth the money. (2008-06-05)

This is a cute little calendar to keep on the wall, but honestly not worth the money. You can do almost the same thing with a plain calendar or the one I got from the doctor. The few tips on it (plus a calendar online) [...]

Got this for Christmas, and opened it right away to find beautiful photography of the sweetest babes! Has plenty of room to write specifics from each doctor visit and belly growth. Also, has stickers to mark special moments or cravings and such! This will be saved along with my baby's baby book!

Pregnancy Calendar (2007-05-09)

I searched through many pregnancy calendars and found this one to be easy to use. The pictures are lovely and the stickers provided outlining significant events during the pregnancy were fun. There is a place to jot down information each month about your doctor's visit. There is space to also write-in any additional information you desire on the date. I highly recommend this product.

Price: $14.95

For the woman trying to conceive, a single place to track and organize cycle and fertility stats and records, as well as tips on staying in prime shape throughout the process

"When did I ovulate last month?"

"Does my LH surge always happen on Day 15?

"How long ago did I get my FSH tested?"

When it comes to getting pregnant, timing and accuracy are everything, yet you have to have the organizational bent of a bookkeeper to keep track of the relevant details! What a woman in charge of her fertility really needs is one place to track everything--a handy log to keep on the nightstand, to toss in her purse when she goes to the doctor, or to whip out for reference when she's searching the Internet.

Spiral-bound for easy and frequent use, The Essential Fertility Log is all that--and a lot more. It has three main sections: a daily journal with space to record ovulation/cycle information, a monthly calendar that displays the big picture of fertility and menstrual cycles, and a section for medication, treatment, and test records. Fun factoids and tips throughout also emphasize staying fit and healthy through regular exercise, good nutrition, and stress management.

A source of daily encouragement as well as a tool for effective communication and collaboration with her doctor, The Essential Fertility Log will keep a woman's spirits up as she rides the emotional roller coaster of trying to conceive.

Best fertility log out there (2009-12-01)

This book is great because it keeps track of everything, right down to your exercise and if you have taken your vitamins that day. Of course, the day it showed up at my house I found out I was pregnant! But I will keep it for when I try again.

Great help. (2008-12-31)

Highly recommend. I used it daily and it helped me to remember vitamins and meds. My doctors reviewed it each visit and made notes for me in it. I used every page.

Pregnant now and still make notes in it for my 1st trimester history.

too complicated (2008-12-14)

I haven't used this log yet. Maybe it will be helpful if I ever needed to do fertility treatments, but I find it too cumbersome for everyday use in the first few months of charting.

Great tool! (2008-09-25)

The Essential Fertility Log: An Organizer and Record Keeper to Help You Get Pregnant

This book was given to me by a friend who had gone through IVF numerous times and loved this book. I love it too! I'm not much of a journaler, but the prompts printed in the log really help me to keep track of my thoughts, feelings, and physical conditions. It also helps me, during my periodic appointments for acupuncture and fertility clinic, to keep track of what's happened over the last week, etc. that may have some bearing over that day's appointment/treatment. The acupuncturist and fertility center staff think this is a great tool also.

Helpful (2008-08-20)

I bought this when I was going through IVF. It was helpful in keeping track of what was going on, what was coming up and all the meds!

Great Resource for New Moms (2010-01-15)

I began taking Baby Boot Camp classes shortly after the birth of my daughter. I realized after my first session how deconditioned I had become after pregnancy, but stuck with it. Week after week, I became stronger and fitter. I believed in the workout program so much that I became certified as a Baby Boot Camp Instructor/Franchise Owner in Sunnyvale, Mountain View and Los Altos,CA, acquiring both my ACE Group Fitness Certification and NASM Personal Trainer Certification. I know there are times when the moms (and dads)in my classes just can't make it to class due to their busy schedules, poor weather, or their babies being ill. This book is a great tool for them to still get a short workout in at home and incorporates a lot of the same exercises that I use in my classes. The book is very well laid out with a natural progression of workouts based on the baby's age and the mom's increasing postpartum fitness levels. It demonstrates optimum exercises for new moms to avoid injury and help them regain their prepregnancy figure. I would highly recommend this book to all new moms who want to safely get back into a workout routine.

Photos are terrific (2009-12-29)

The photos in this book are terrific...I love how the chapters are laid out in simple way to show new moms (or anyone) clearly how to properly do each exercise. A picture is worth a thousand words in this book. I'm buying this for all my baby shower gifts.

Best Fitness Book for Moms! (2009-12-01)

Baby Boot Camp is full of concise exercises, making it manageable for any mom. The color pictures are amazing, making the exercises easy to follow. I ordered several books for my Christmas gift list!

BABY-EGG Pregnancy Countdown Calendar

First ever 38 LIFE-SIZE illustrations calendar of the unborn developing baby, conception to birth (week by week). ACTUAL SIZE is the main point of this calendar, it is a companion to any pregnancy book and not a pregnancy book in itself. 38 simple outline pencil art drawings showing ACTUAL SIZE of the baby. (not in color) Instead of comparing the size of the unborn child to fruits and vegetables, this is the better answer to one of the most frequently asked questions during pregnancy: "How BIG is the baby?" -The pages are bound by a pink and blue ribbon for use with the BABY EGG wall hook. (Similar to a flip-chart.) - It comes with a purple book ring for desk top use. -Enclosed is a fridge magnet for single page use. -The egg-shaped pages and drawings get larger as the baby grows. -On the back of each page is a reduced size baby with a text bubble: containing positive "NEWS from the WOMB" and changes in development such as thumb sucking , opening of eyes, measurements and more. The individual pages are easily removed if you would like to take it along with you and show the size of your baby to others. Each calendar is hand assembled by a pink and blue ribbon to maintain the cute feel of the original hand made prototype. It is the best present you can give to expecting parents.

Waste of time and money (2009-03-23)

Boy, was this stupid. I seriously wonder what I was thinking when I ordered it. It was so simple and dumb and I felt kinda rediculous that I actually spent money on it. As soon as I opened it up I repacked it and promptly returned it to Amazon. I would not waste my money if I were you. Instead I bought a flip book calendar telling us information on our fetus day by day. This was much more productive and educational.

Life size baby illustrations... so cute! (2008-11-01)

What an amazing idea!
I hold the pages in front of my belly and the whole family is excited to see how big the baby looks. Every week we put up the new page on the fridge with the enclosed magnet.
My husband said: "Finally a calendar that has us men in mind too"
since the baby drawings are not complicated and mainly he wants to know HOW big it is.
I write my journal on the back of the pages, it has lines next to a mini baby with a speech bubble that says what's new this week.
The calendar has a feel like my best friend just made it for me because of the blue and pink ribbon that hold the pages.
I sent one to my mom and she also turns the pages every week. She is happy being able to get an idea how big a grandchild is each week.
Thank you!

I paid $20 for this...? (2008-08-07)

I thought there would be a little bit more to this. When I saw the picture of the author cutting out prototypes, I thought that it was just paper for the prototype and the actual book would be more that just paper on a ribbon. But this is what you will get. Might be nicer if it was made into a hard book for kids to actually be able to enjoy. I was afraid to let my daughter touch it for fear she would tear the $20 pieces of paper. Neat idea but needs to be developed more for me.

Perfect gift (2008-03-21)

I bought this for my friend expecting her first child. We all look forward to turning the page over every week to see how big her baby is getting. Everyone who goes to her house checks out the baby's progress. I have never even heard of any other product showing the actual size of the baby. It's wonderful to know! This product has been a such a hit! I would also think it would be so helpful to older siblings too who don't quite understand what's happening to Mommy's belly. I will be buying more "eggs" for all of my friends and sisters when they become pregnant!

Great gift! (2007-06-27)

I purchased this calendar as part of a congratulations gift for a newly pregnant friend. She loved it. And so did all the moms that saw it. It is also a great item to help inform the husband as to what is going on! It is easy to read and has great pictures. Pictures would be great to show a sibling what's happening in Mommy's belly! I really like this product.

OK (2008-12-01)

I like the fact that this calendar will work anytime. You simply fill in the months/dates. I wish there was more info on what is going on during the weeks of pregnancy though. Ok, but I could have bought a regular pocket calendar for this.

Awesome, awesome, awesome!! (2008-01-02)

I really don't know what to say about this other than how greta it is. It has all the stuff you need in one little book to keep track of all your baby related things. As a mom who has more than one pregnancies I have a hard time remembering what happened when and how I feel at such and such point. I love having this book and keeping track.

CUTE . . . BUT NOT WHAT I WANTED (2007-10-17)

THIS ITEM IS CUTE . . . BUT I WANTED TO BE ABLE TO PUT IN AS MUCH INFO AS POSSIBLE. THIS IS SMALL AND NOT WHAT I WANTED, I GOT A PLANNER INSTEAD AND RETURNED THIS ITEM.

Great!!! (2007-05-14)

This is a great planner to track you pregnancy. The size is perfect to carry with you. The stickers are cute! Only complaint is that the squares a on the small side so you can't write that much.

Wonderful Pregnancy Calendar! (2007-01-04)

I absolutely loved this calendar! This calendar has blank calendar months so that you can create your own pregnancy calendar. Setting up your personalized calendar is easy and fun. I loved to keep track of the baby's growth, appointments, and my own progress not to mention counting down to the exciting Day. I would recommend this calendar to every Mom. Memories are forever. I thought that it is a fair price and ships fast to your home.

Must Have! (2007-06-15)

After my second child's birth I was really stressed out with the jealousy of my older child, my husband's long work hours, and my post-partum depression. Beth's words of wisdom helped alleviate my guilt, especially when I felt like I was anything but an ideal mother. Her humor raised a smile and she tackled some topics that, unfortunately, mothers don't always talk about because we're afraid to admit that we don't love every aspect of motherhood (which, btw, is very natural).
Beth also encouraged me to take time out for myself and when with my children, to truly enjoy them. I still carry this book around with me....

A must-have for new mothers! (2007-05-07)

As a new mother, I absolutely adored this book. The author shared all of the thoughts and feelings of the new mother, which were the same as I was having about my new role in such a beautiful and heartfelt way, which helped me feel less isolated.

This is now one of my favorite things to give to mothers-to-be at baby showers!

great gift (2007-02-22)

I have 4 children...and I read parts of this book after each one. The "New" in the title didn't only mean first time mom to me...I enjoyed the book over and over.

Read just a page a day (2006-10-19)

I received this wonderful book as a gift. I often only had the time and energy to read just one page before bed. It always comforted me. I always give this book to new moms.

Just what I needed to hear, when I needed to hear it! (2004-02-12)

This book was wonderful when I was a first time mother of twins. It helped me keep it all in perspective. When I was most frazzled, it made me realize that whether their stages brought good or bad, babyhood is precious and temporary.

Great organizer to track all that happens during pregnancy (2008-11-30)

This book was like a diary for me to record the day by day changes that occurred during pregnancy. It's like a date book with a little section to record your own details for each day. In addition, it has advice and details of what you can expect to happen as things progress. This was a valuable resource during pregnancy, and now it is a treasured keepsake that I will hold onto for the rest of my life.
