my favorite desk calendar ever! (2010-02-19)

This is the third year I've purchased this desk calendar. It's been the only one I can find with a week that begins on Sunday, and that's kind of important to me. I'm not Jewish, though I have deep appreciation of the Jewish faith. But I love the gorgeous photos of various works of Jewish art - from antique pieces right up through modern art paintings. The photos are - like the rest of the calendar - high quality. These calendars hold up well, have plenty of room for writing each day's activities, and are such a joy to browse through for the art, too. I wholeheartedly recommend The Jewish Calendar (engagement calendar)!

Not as nice as previous years (2010-01-08)

I used to buy this calendar every year, but won't do it again without seeing it. This year's has more pictures, but the paper is not nearly as nice, and the lack of the fold-over front and back covers removes the handy "bookmark" feature it used to have. The photos of art this year are not as well-done, and sort of haphazardly thrown onto the pages. I'd rather return to the well selected, fewer photos, on thicker stock with the nicer cover, than have more photos and less quality.

I did like that this was a 16-month Jewish calendar; those were very difficult to find this year.

I believe I saw a review that said this gives equal space to Jewish and non-Jewish holidays (Haloween being as conspicuous, for instance). My opinion is very different. I find this to be one of the best calendars for thorough "Jewish" information (from parshanot to candle lighting times, and future holiday dates), with "non-Jewish" information alongside. On one side of each page is the Hebrew calendar, on the other is the Gregorian, and yes it just happens to mention other holidays from Haloween to Canada's Boxing Day. Hebrew dates and holidays are not less conspicuous, and it's nice to have some warning when the stores might be closed (or whatever) because it's a Christian holiday!

Jewish Calendar (2009-12-18)

I love this calendar. have been using it for more than ten years. I like the size, the format and that I have all the Jewish holidays right on my calendar!

The Jewish Calendar (2009-11-09)

The Jewish Calendar 2009-2010 Engagement

Great art illustrations. Concise, clear date information. Easy to navigate from secular to Hebrew calendar features. Highly recommend.

The Jewish Engagement Calendar series (2009-11-05)

I have been purchasing The Jewish Calendar since 2008. I cannot wait until September or October each year to order mine. I keep my older copies for the beautiful photos. This is not a wall calendar, but an engagement calendar. The photos are from the B'Nai B'rith Klutznick National Jewish Museum. It is published by Universe. Every month is given in English as well as in Hebrew. Each day of the week has the regular calendar date on the left hand side and the Jewish date on the right hand side. Each calendar page has one week and the opposite page has a photo. Actually, there is one photo for about every two calendar pages. Each photo has a description on the side of the opposite page. Jewish holidays are carefully pointed out including the Torah and Haphtarah readings. Shabbat candle lighting times are included for the whole year for Jerusalem as well as ten other locations. Jewish holidays are carefully noted. While it is true that some of the photos are of more modern artifacts (which I do not care much about), others are magnificent beauties. I am quite a fan of this engagement calendar series. I had not planned to write this review until I was shocked to see someone had given the engagement calendar one star. I give it five.

Absolutely beautiful! (2009-02-05)

I ordered this book to "alter" as a papercrafts/scrapbooking project. It's almost too beautiful to amend, but it worked out nicely. The quality is excellent.

Nesting Day Calendar (2009-02-04)

I absolutely love this calendar! I had received one as a gift last year- published by the same company- so I went looking for a new one for this year! The quality and the look are perfect for me! smiles!

Pretty & Practical (2009-01-22)

This is a lovely book made to look just like an antique ledger. The inside is organized with three dates on each page. Each entry is just big enough to use as a desk planner or as a journal entry. It is a beautiful book that would also be fun to use as an altered art object.

I hope this series is never discontinued (2008-12-18)

This is the third year I've purchased this type of Andrews McMeel calendar. It has a pleasing, old-fashioned, slow-down-and-enjoy-this-moment quality. As others have said, the paper is substantial and pleasant to write on. I appreciate that it gives as much space for Saturdays and Sundays as for weekdays. The book generally seems meant more for personal notes than workaday planning. I use the books for jotting down notes about the preceding day. I find that there is just enough space allotted for each day.

works for me (2008-11-09)

Second year using calendar in this series. Like the format : long and lean, hard to misplace; plenty of room to write notes and appointments; fine paper quality, takes pen beautifully. I would have been happier to have some extra pages for general jottings. As it is, there's not one to spare.

12 x 16 calendar. At sixteen years of age, Hazell left school to work as a hairdresser. Her colleagues persuaded her to try her luck at modelling (she later quit hairdressing) and she enrolled at Lewisham College to start a City & Guilds in fashion, but was not at the college for very long. At seventeen, she competed in The Daily Star's Search for a Beach Babe contest and won. A friend told her about The Sun's Page 3 Idol competition. Despite some initial uncertainty about entering the contest, she submitted some photos. She was eventually chosen the winner in December 2004. She won £10,000 worth of "sexy clothes and a one-year membership of the Rex cinema and bar. Three cast sculptures were made of her bust by sculptor Leigh Heppell. Two are in the Sun offices and one is in her house.

Very Mountable (2009-03-05)

The cool thing about this calendar is that the photos are on individual pages with blank backs making them perfect to be mounted later. Definately a keeper!

Gorgeous Keeley (2009-02-08)

There is a gorgeous picture for each month. This really makes it a fantastic little poster. The drawback of this calendar is the calendar aspect of the calendar. There is a small rundown of the days each month, but it is not organized weekly, you can't tell which days are the weekends (must focus on small print), there is no real space to mark a date, and all the holidays or significant dates are printed sideways in fine print. Great poster, which I love, not great for much else.

Great Art (2009-02-17)

I love heavy metal's artwork, and this calender collects some of the best covers over the last couple years. Gorgeous artwork as usual. I bought their calendar last year and loved it. I'm not disappointed this year either.

Looks much better on the pics then in reality (2009-02-03)

I was extremely disappointed upon opening the product. The quality of printing and paper is just low, the colors are horrible and the pictures, although nicely chosen, are just dull-looking and dark. Overall, this calendar not nearly gives credit wo the wonderful Disney cartoons it uses.

Is Michael Eisener back in Disneyland? (2009-01-12)

I purchase the "Disney Days" calendar for my husband every year and he always loves them. In fact he has saved every one. However this year he made the comment I used as the title as he said this year's version is much cheaper quality, primarily the thickness of the paper.

Other than that, so far so good!

I have been using this calendar for years and keep it by my computer and it's great to look at and read interesting dates of Disney history.
Good product.
