Extremely Good Despite the Cover (2009-01-28)

I must admit the cover with Faux-KISS put me off for a while. I have been searching for classic KISS calendars similar to what some companies had put out some years since KISS died.
However, the great part of this calendar is that the majority of the pics are classic shots. My personal fave is July with the Spirit of 76 Shot. But other Pics are there including the gatefold for Alive II.
If you need a genuine KISS calendar and cannot find a classic KISS calendar, try this one, and least its 85% balls.

Published since 1992 by The Music Business Registry, Inc., this contact directory for Music Industry Professionals and artists lists all of the A&R and Executive staffs at the Major and Indie Record Labels in the US, Canada and UK and includes regional offices not listed in any other directory. Each Record Label office is listed including offices in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, Toronto, London and more. Published every eight weeks, this directory includes addresses, direct dial phone and fax numbers, email addresses, and assistants names for all A&R and Executive personnel, in addition to websites, distribution, and style of music. All contact information is verified by phone for each issue. Each issue also includes an alphabetical index of all contacts. In addition, each issue lists a Changes page listing all of the companies that have opened or closed their doors during the preceding 8-week period , company moves as well as A&R staff departures and hires. An updated Music Industry Conference Calendar is also updated with each issue listing the dates and contact information for all of the important music conferences throughout the world. Marginal Resource (2009-01-30)

Considering the high price of this product, I don't feel it's worth the investment. Many of the email addresses are inactive, along with some of the contacts despite being the most recent update (Nov-Dec 2008). I was dissapointed to say the least. Unlike the Songwriter's Market, the A&R Registry provides little in the way of details and background info for each listing. Instead, it's bare bones information.

I think the publisher would do well to spend more time researching the markets and contacts, so that it's more informative and up-to-date for those of us who work in the entertainment industry. The layout reminds me of the Gavin A&R directories that were in circulation back in the 1990's. I give it a rating of three stars. Could be much better, especially for the high price tag!

The BEST A&R resource. Period. (2008-03-11)

This is the best A&R resource on the planet. Everything is completely updated every other month (6 issues a year). I used this for my band a while back and scored some major contacts that we later used for film placement. We had a demo deal on the table with Elektra (I cold-called them using this directory) until our bass player decided we needed more studio cash and refused to sign the contract. Anyway, this is a great tool to have if you're looking for music industry contacts. I got my copy at getsigned.com and saved about $10 there.
