A unique and lovely look at the world of flora, this calendar will delight both flower lovers and photographers. Photographer and radiology technologist Steven N. Meyers uses x-ray photography to reveal the textures, details, and structures of plants that are not normally visible to the human eye. To obtain these effects, Steven uses supersensitive, large format film. The result is a rare glimpse at the delicate and intricate beauty of flowers. 1 customer reviews Very Cool Calendar. October 11, 2007 I can hardly wait for 2008 when I can begin to use this calendar on my wall. The flower pictures are unique and lovely. |
(28 pages) | Flowers Calendar 2008by: Smith & Hawken publisher: Workman Publishing Company released: 2007-06-30 ISBN: 0761145672 $11.99 | Description
Naturally elegant, naturally lush, naturally beautiful. From Smith & Hawken, here are twelve months of gorgeous blooms displayed in buckets, pitchers, jars, and other found containers. These compositions, unfussy and spontaneous in feel, evoke the pleasures of sunny gardens and farm stands, all year round. Pale yellow and pink dahlias chase away winter's gloom. A centerpiece of cloudlike hydrangeas makes lunch on the patio extra special. And hot pink orchids bring a touch of the exotic to the table. Stunning in color and detail, every one of these portraits—and every one of these blossoms—is an affirmation of Nature's splendor. 3 customer reviews Nice Calendar - good improvements. February 11, 2008 The photos are pretty and the selection of colors for each month is well-rounded. I like the flower choices. Best of all, this year Smith & Hawken finally put in two little squares with "last month" and "next month". Now you don't have to turn pages or take the calendar down to see what day the 20th is of next month, for example. This means I can use the calendar now instead of just looking at the pictures. Good job. Page layout is nice also. Smith & Hawken Flowers Calendar is Beautiful. February 5, 2008 I get this calendar every year for myself and for my mother-in-law. It hangs in my kitchen. The squares for each day are large enough to write in daily activities, so I keep my & my toddler's schedule with this calendar. The pictures are so beautiful that it brings me cheer every day! Highly recommend this calendar for you or for any ladies in your life (or guys who love flowers). Lovely, fresh and bright.. October 26, 2007 Absolutely perfect to hang in the kitchen. Or bathroom. Or utility room. Or pantry.
Believe it or not though. I have seen better. On a visit to a thrift shop a few months ago I bought a tiny book of flower arrangements by some supremely talented dutch artist whose name I cannot for the life of me remember. I cut out all the photos of her creations and put them on display around the house. And then threw away the rest of the book. She used a greater variety of flowers within each arrangement and chose nicer vases too.
But this calendar will do nicely for 2008.

Christopher Gruver's stunning photography presents a wildly beautiful and vivid experience of the universe of flowers. An avid lover of nature and the outdoors, Mr. Gruver marries skill with instinct. Drawing on his intuitive link to aesthetic and essence, Mr. Gruver creates striking compositions that reveal the delicacy and vibrancy of nature. Each month is accompanied by a poetic interlude connecting our human voyage with the living intimacy of a flower. Sample Caption: "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." -Albert Einstein (1879-1955) 2 customer reviews Flower Calendar. February 12, 2008 This is my second year of purchasing this particular calendar. I really enjoy looking at the awesome pictures of flowers and look forward to turning over to the next month to see what gorgeous photo awaits for my viewing. Beautiful Calendar. 1 customer reviews Wild Flowers Galore!. February 8, 2008 A beautiful calendar -- Audubon does it again! I find their calendars to be consistantly of great print quality, and the photography to be done by some of the field's premier nature photographers. Aubudon calenders are not only beautiful, they are educational as well. They are loaded with interesting information about the fauna or flora depicted on a particular month. As a Horticulturalist, I appreciate the inclusion of the latin names of the plants, as some picture calendars have only common plant names, and some don't even have either. Through their calenders, Audubon transports you to the places they photograph, and it is always a great trip. |

1 customer reviews Great flower fairies calendar. February 26, 2008 Great flower fairies calendar - a little fantasy of creator and thanks to collages of different original Mary Cicely Barker pictures the images became more colourful and absolutely joyful. Calendar come with little stickers that you can place on some date (stickers are smaller that date squares - so it do not enclose the date) to remember yourself some important events. |
