Mom's Family Calendar 2008

by: Sandra Boynton
publisher: Workman Publishing Company released: 2007-06-30
ISBN: 0761145613 $12.99
Description

With Sandra Boynton's spirited chickens, cows, hippos, pigs, and mice running, skipping, and hopping through the pages plus its renowned organizational brawn, Mom's calendar is seriously hardworking— and seriously fun, too. To make it super-practical, the calendar covers sixteen months beginning in September. And the format is pure genius: The oversized grid is laid out on a vertical, with five columns across the top (one for each family member) and the days of the month reading down the left side. It's easy to see who's doing what, and when they're doing it, with just a glance. Includes 500 stickers and a handy write-on, wipe-off magnetic phone list for the fridge.

Good for a somewhat large family. July 3, 2008

It can be difficult to find a large calendar for a busy family with four children. I spend each December at the stores hoping to find the perfect blend of spaces for people with boxes big enough to write out their daily activities. This year I thought I'd try the Sandra Boynton calendar and am glad I did. With a space for each day, INCLUDING Saturday and Sunday and columns for four children it has been a perfect fit for us. So perfect, in fact, that I hope they are planning to do one exactly the same for 2009. If so, I'll continue to use this until we add another member to the family.

Now give us a journal/calendar for the schedule/journalers. May 19, 2008

Greatest family calendar out there! Helps keep us organized and teaches the kids to track the calendar. Fits on kitchen wall. All you need to keep everyone knowing where they're supposed to be any given day.

Disappointed - will not buy again - not enough space. March 31, 2008

I bought the 2008 calendar based on other reviews and I was disappointed. We have 2 young kids, but even with their activities (and mom's & dad's), the vertical column set-up leaves really small squares to write a few basic words. The stickers are cute but there's no room to put them because the squares are so small - and there weren't that many "sports" stickers suprisingly. Plus, I don't know if you're supposed to use a special pen with the glossy paper, but if you use a regular ballpoint, the impressions bleed onto the next page. The monthly pictures are cute because we really like the Boynton books, but other than that, I'm sorry to say that I'm going to look for a different calendar.

This calendar is a godsend!. February 26, 2008

With the vertical arrangement of the month and numbers/ boxes that are large enough to be read from accross the room, this calendar is perfect for me. No more missed dental appointments and forgotten birthdays. The kids love using the enclosed stickers to decorate special days. I do wish this calendar came with a pocket or an easy way to attach important items for a month (tickets, coupons, etc.)

Handy organization tool. February 25, 2008

Love this product, it is so handy at keeping tabs on our busy schedule. The only drawback, I can see, is that it just fits our family size and we don't have a big family. If we had one more child, we would run out of spaces.

My favorite calendar!. April 6, 2008

This is the only calendar I use for my family. This is my second one and I absolutely love it. I use my BBB every day, all day. The individual columns for each family member is great. I love the pockets in the front and back to hold cards and invitations. The book mark is ingenious and stays in place perfectly. I definitely recommend this calendar for busy families such as mine. It's a wonderful organizer!

Calandar. June 12, 2008

This is excellent for those of you that have more then one thing on your plate. I split the weeks between personal each class and work. I love this thing!!!!

Now I'm Organized. March 7, 2008

This calendar is great! I needed something small enough to fit in my diaper bag, but big enough in which to fit all of my appointments. The columns seriously help me stay organized by keeping my home, family, business and church events separate and easy to read. I'm buying one every year.

Great idea, but.... March 5, 2008

I love the idea of this planner - just what I was searching for. My only complaint is the size of the scheduling boxes --- too small. There's tons of open space on the facing pages, but the calendar section iteslf is no larger than any other calendar of the same size.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!. February 11, 2008

I could not ask for a better calendar! I love having all the different rows of boxes to write in. I use one for me, one for family, one for my sewing projects, one for a to do list for the day and there is an extra that I use for anything that strikes my fancy that week. I like the size and the color. I would soooo recommend this to anyone!!

Great way to keep family organized!. January 20, 2008

This is the second year I have used this method to try to keep my family calendar organized. It is the best method yet! There is a place for each of us to schedule our events and keep track of appointments. I would recommend this product for any busy family! It does take a little getting used to the format though.

Old Farmer's Almanac 2008 Calendar is quaint, informative, and fun. February 20, 2008

I love my 2008 Old Farmer's Almanac Calendar. It is my favorite calendar that I have had in many a year! How else would I know that the full moon for this March which falls on Good Friday is called the "Full Worm Moon"! If trivia like this. and information on growing plants isn't your cup of tea, then perhaps a Farmer's Almanac calendar isn't for you. I, for one, plan to buy the same type of calendar next year. I love the layout and design and the esoteric information. Thanks to the folks at Farmer's Almanac, I know now to not water my Christmas cactus so much when it's blooming!

not as much info as previous years. January 12, 2008

I have bought these calendars the last 3 or 4 years, and love them. They look nice and don't take up a huge space on my wall. I like that the artwork is somewhat old fashoned looking, while the layout is modern. Also, the main picture is only 4 3/4 inches wide and 7 3/4 inches tall, so it doesn't hit you over the head visually.

In previous years there was a short writing each month about a gardening subject, as well as explanations of special dates, but in the 2008 calendar only the latter is included. The descriptions of the dates are printed in a larger font to fill in the space. I miss the extra information, but it looks a little nicer.

Pretty - But sparse on gardening information. October 4, 2007

I was hoping for more gardening by the moon phases type information. I thought it would contain a gardening guide (like in the almanac) but in calendar form... you know, things like best days to weed, sow seeds, prune for growth or prune to inhibit growth.

It's a very pretty calender and does include moon phases, but that's about it.

Gardening Calendar. September 29, 2007

I was very happy with this purchase. It was everything i expected and more. The cover illustration is very bright and cheery, it has a very old fashioned victorian look, which i like. Inside the calendar are beautiful pictures of flowers with descriptions of what they are, and helpful gardening hints. Also a planting chart and moon phases. I will definitely be purchasing this calendar on a regular basis. I bought the farmer's almanac with the calendar, and got both for 14.90 very good bargain. I highlly recommend both products!

My All Time Favourite Calendar for Families. March 31, 2008

I have used this calendar for about 10 years now. It has a great layout with each week opening flat to the entire week. Columns for appointments, meals/kitchen, home, To Do, To Buy and a handy message area at the bottom corner as well as a small monthly calendar at the top for reference and a nice quote of inspiration.

The front inside cover has a place for emergency phone numbers and info, a 2 page year at glance planning calendar for whole year.

Each month has a full page calendar and opposite page that is lined and blank, I use this for finances and recording bills I am paying out of each paycheck. The calendar has big blocks to write in as well.
It was intended as a To Do, New Projects and Notes area.

I put post-it tabs ( the sturdy ones you can write on) to label each months calendar page for easy reference.
The back has the next years planning calendar.
Family Profiles to record birthdays, favourite things, clothing sizes etc.. of each person and a wish list. Great to have .
Dates to Remember Page, Items Loaned and Borrowed Page,
Storage Record page, Notes pages both blank and lined where I record my budget, real estate taxes paid that year, other tax stuff for easy reference. I also have an investment page with corresponding info and contact info. Then there is a Phone List 5 pages long. Last but, no least 3 pages of tear off sheet for To Buy and To Do lists.

Overall it is a very handy, easy to use format with big spaces to write and plan out your life. It helps me keep organized and know I have paid everything whether I am off or on the computer.

Every Mother Needs One. December 30, 2007

I got a Polestar calendar for a gift 10 years ago and have bought one every year since. The layout is great with a full week's schedule over two pages, tear off tabs at corners to easily find your week, a sidebar for To Do, and grocery list and address book built into appointment book.

Definitely recommend for busy women.

Very helpful planner. June 18, 2008

I have purchased this type of planner for the past 3 years. The layout makes it very helpful to keep track of the many activities going on. The large spaces for writing in events is especially helpful as is the extended year.

Well designed family calendar. November 8, 2007

Very well thought out calendar for the family, unlike some calendars that look they were designed by publishers without kids.(Spaces too small, pictures to big, too many stickers for "Vet appointment".

Worth purchasing if you are debating between similar calendars, this one is tried and true. I'm surprised by other bad reviews of this because its has Christian stickers. Seems to me those folks may need a little religion if they are going to get so uptight over a little ol' calendar, especailly when Amazon's return policies are so easy.Silly! I daresay being the happy, unstressed Right Wing Christian that I am, if this came with a bunch of Buddhist stickers, I wouldn't think a thing of it and use those stickers for "yoga" days or something productive, I wouldn't go schizo on Amazon.

Lovely utilitarian calendar. More efficient than the Sandra Boynton one.

I rarely use the stickers in a calendar anyway.

Poor description!!!!. October 22, 2007

I am really disapointed in this calendar. I use another version this calendar every year the one I thought I was getting. No where in the decription did it list it was a Christian version much to my surprise when I opened it up and saw all of these stickers for church outings. Very disapointed in how this was listed it really wouldn't be that hard to mention it would it? Now I have to go buy the non specific planner.

For moms that need to plan. . October 17, 2007

This is a wonderful calender! The stickers are nice, but not always the right ones. There are a lot of church related ones. The magnet is cool but you can't put anything too heavy in the pocket.
I will buy another next fall!

must have calendar for all moms. October 1, 2007

This calendar is awesome. I got one as a Christmas gift for 2006 and thought I'd never use it. Last year when it came time to buy a calendar for 2007 I got just a normal one and boy did I miss the organization! I decided to get a 2008 one early that is a 16 month calendar because I missed it so much! All moms (and dads) should have this!

Perfect Planner for Mom!. March 10, 2008

I've been a fan of Sandra Boynton's "Mom's Family Wall Calendars" for years, but last year, when I moved into my new house, I couldn't find a good place for it where it would be easily visible, and more importantly, usable. So this year, when I saw this planner, I was overjoyed!

Same great art spread out over 52 weeks with the same great stickers to use for every occasion! There's more than enough space to keep track of my stuff, along with both of my kids (although, for bigger, active families this could be an issue, as there is only a differentiation for 'Mom' and 'Kids', not the split available on the wall calendar). I use it daily (it fits in my medium size purse and goes everywhere with me) and have yet to miss an event, appointment or bill for that matter!

I love the to do and grocery (automatically makes chocolate #9 AND #10 on every list!), plus all the other extras in the back section!

Definitely recommend this product for every single mom out there. Even if you just leave it on your desk to flip through, you're going to find yourself better organized (oh, it has pockets, too!) and less stressed out!

The only CON I found was the adhesive for the pockets did not hold very well, but that was easily remedied with scotch tape.

Desk Planner. February 19, 2008

I love this desk planner, it has been wonderful. It has plenty of room to write in and cute pre made lists that are perfect for daily errands. I wouldn't choose any other after using this one

love it!. February 14, 2008

i love it, i love stickers and the lists and the mom/family divided days days... i tell every mom about it! one mom did say she loved it but needed the daily time record as well as just day, but that's the only complaint.

A Mom's must have!!!. February 7, 2008

This is my second year using this planner and I absolutely love it. I have a busy family of five, I find it to be very simple and easy to use. It's just a fun planner with all the stickers. It fits well in my purse and/or diaper bag. Great Christmas gift for friends who are mothers.

perfect calander. January 28, 2008

this is the ideal calander for the organized mom. With four kids and a home business, I could not live without this.

Both beautiful and practical. January 31, 2008

The photos are very nice. One problem with pictorial calendars is that sometimes it's easy to tire of the pictures before the month is out. That shouldn't be a problem with this calendar. The January recipe, risotto with mushrooms and herbs, was quite tasty. Scattered around the calendar dates are various tidbits of folklore and miscellanea. I didn't know, for instance, that the Chinese used garlic to ward off the evil eye. After enjoying this calendar for the rest of this year, I'll likely get another one of these for 2009.
