THE COLLECTORS DREAM. January 12, 2008

If you're into the Blue Dog memorabilia, this is it. It's inexpensive, has a purpose and it's Blue Dog. Great product!!!!!

Blue Dog engagement Calander. December 30, 2007

My favorite calender. Pleased with colors, symbolism.
Would prefer 12 mo rather than 18 mo calender

Blues make you happy. November 25, 2007

Discovered Blue Dog Calendars several years ago in New Orleans. Nice calendar and the Blue Dog does brighten your day.

Not a winner this year. November 19, 2007

I bought the 2007 calendar and absolutely loved it. Took it in my purse everywhere I went. Loved looking at Blue Dog every time I had to schedule something. So I couldn't wait to get 2008 so I ordered it on Amazon. But it is such a disappointment. Last year's was a perfect size, had a softcover, was flexible, fit everywhere. 2008 is too big, has a huge binder that gets caught on everything, and the hardcover means it no longer fits in my purse. It's like carrying around a big hardcover book. I'm so disappointed. I won't use it. I'll buy a calendar at Borders.

A Blue Dog for Every Day of the Year. September 26, 2007

I love the Blue Dog and bought this calendar mainly to keep for the collection of Dog in many different poses, 365 to be exact.

The calendar is sturdy to use or (as in my case) make as a keepsake. Included are: "My Security Blanket" where the Blue Dog is wrapped in the American Flag; "Truly Rudy", with Dog wearing reindeer antlers which was also made in notecards. "Ain't Nothing But a Hound Dog", with dog in shades standing in front of a "Bourbon Street Jazz Band of New Orleans" drum; "Dog in a Bearsuit" with dog adorable as a Blue Bear in disguise; and many more to meet any taste.

If you're like me and love the Blue Dog this is an inexpensive way to get a great collection. It's also a good functional calendar. The calendar pages are glossy and somewhat sturdy, not a cheap paper throwaway.

Super Duper!!. January 7, 2008

As I've said before, Mary Englebreit is the best! I love her passion for detail in everything she does. My girlfriend of many years ago, also named Mary who passes away a few years back, is the one who introduced me to Mary Englebreit. And now I see why my Mary loved her so much. Thank you, Mary Englebreit!

Written with a minimum of “wine speak,” Rayyis’s ratings are concise, clear, and include all price ranges, with an emphasis on wines that offer the best value for the dollar. In addition, the 2008 version is loaded with special features, including an invaluable Food & Wine Pairing Chart, a Bargain Wine Finder, and a Wine Tasting Guide.

Useful book. February 23, 2008

This is the second edition of this book we have purchased. It is not comprehensive but is easy-to-read, portable and very useful. Appropriate for persons with less or more knowledge of wine.

Boris Vallejo & Julie Bell's Fantasy Calendar 2008

by: C. J. Henderson
publisher: Workman Publishing Company released: 2007-06-30
ISBN: 0761144943 $11.99

The perennial fantasy favorite features thirteen all-new paintings from the husband-and-wife team of Boris Vallejo, America's premier fantasy artist, and Julie Bell, designer of the popular Dragons of Destiny sculpture series. Enter a world of mythical beasts, fearsome monsters, and dreamy landscapes conjured from the far reaches of the imagination. And captivating women, rendered with exquisite anatomical detail: A huntress aims with lethal accuracy. A goddess, hair flowing, leaps above the waves. Plus warrior women, enchantresses, fairies, and sensual maidens, all alive with passion and intensity. An original fantasy narrative by C. J. Henderson, author of the Teddy London series, weaves the paintings together.

Bring back the magic!. April 25, 2008

This is not a review of the 2008 calender because, frankly, I didn't buy after last year's. Like the other reviewer who complained of the way the pictures had been placed, I, too, find it annoying and disruptive to the art. But honestly, I haven't been happy with the Boris calender since 1995, when it switched from mythology to fantasy. Over the years, I've found that the stories that caption the art don't really fit and oftentimes don't make sense to me. And although I have nothing against Julie Bell personally, her artwork, although superficially similar in style, isn't the same as Boris's; it's lighter and not as richly textured. If Boris, and Julie too if she must, ever go back to their mythological paintings for the calender, I will buy it again. But not until then.

2008 Boris Vallejo & Julie Bell Calendar. February 6, 2008

This calendar falls short of previous work done by Vallejo and Bell. I am accustomed to seeing more detail and definition in the subjects. More color, just more - where this one is less.

boris vallejo & julie Bell Fantansy Calendar. January 20, 2008

I have been purchasing these calendars for my husband since our marriage. This years has been as great as all the rest.

Great Art!. January 18, 2008

This is a great calendar for any fan of fantasy art. Boris and Julie are two of the best for a reason.

Fun Fantasy. January 11, 2008

As always the art of Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell takes you away to the place your imagination can only go... A great calendar for the fantasy fan!

I buy one every year!. June 18, 2008

I love these calendars! This is the fifth year I have used these on my desk. I love the layout and the colorful art. I am a big fan of Mary's. I buy her magazine too!

Favorite Mary E. calendar. March 26, 2008

I buy this day to day calendar for my sisters, friends, and Mom every year for a stocking stuffer. They love it and expect to get it. The illustrations are creative and the quotes and sayings are even more wonderful.

What a way to start the day!!. March 1, 2008

Mary Engelbreit's calendars are always nothing short of FABULOUS! I bought one for myself & for my 89-year-old mother. We both LOVE them! The pages are too special to waste, so I send them to my 2 daughters, & my mom sends them to her sister, periodically. The illustrations & sayings are all upbeat & positive. I would recommend this calendar or any of her calendars to anyone -- the BEST way to start your day! :)

Colorful & Uplifting Images that reflect American Optimism. February 8, 2008

The encouraging and universal messages of love for life, family and friends
are cheerful and life-affirming. The images reflect an idealized vision of
the best that America has been and continues to be. It is a great gift for learners of English
as a sampler of American culture. As a American, born of immigrant parents, the positive messages of clever American sayings give an insight into the hope that this country
gives to many. I bought this calendar for a community-college student
learning English and she was delighted to receive it. I have faithfully purchased
this product for the last few years to keep me grounded and upbeat.

I Love this Calendar. January 26, 2008

I buy one of these calendars every year, and never cease to be encouraged and made to laugh. I look forward to turning to each new day. Mary Engelbreit is the best ever!

Mary Engelbreit's 2008 desk calendar. February 9, 2008

I enjoy Mary Engelbreit's desk calendar daily. It is the fourth of her desk calendars I have purchased and I have really liked each one. I try to have a 365 Cats daily calendar also but my first buy is the Engelbreit calendar. It is always a day-brightener. CJ

Mary Engelbreit Desk Calendar. February 8, 2008

I love Mary Engelbreit's desk calendars. I get a new one every year. I save them from year to year to look back on, like diaries. Besides, they're too cute to throw away!

Great by-the-week desk calendar. January 10, 2008

I have been using a Mary Engelbreit weekly desk calendar for 7+ years. I use this calendar at work and it supplements my 'online' calendar. There is about a 1" x 5" rectangle for each day of the week along with a vertical 5" x 1" rectangle for notes.

If you are looking for an serious appointment calendar, this isn't the format for you. But if you are looking for a smile inspiring calendar to hold a few jotted notes and reminders then calendar will definitely fit the bill.

nice, but.... November 22, 2007

I too am disappointed with the format and wrote the company. I've been buying these calendars for years and like the old format. I guess they aren't listening!

Mary Engelbreit's Desk Calendar. November 4, 2007

I have received this calendar for years as a Christmas present but purchased it myself this year. I couldn't live without one! I use it to keep track of all birthdays, appointments and other things to remember. I love it but don't like the fact they have changed it in the last few years from being wider and shorter to more up and down. You don't have as much room to write on the calendar. I will continue to buy one each year anyhow.

Makes a good daily journal. March 29, 2008

This calendar presents each week on a two-page spread. Each day gets a 3 inch by 1.5 inch area.
It has 3 years at a glance in the front, and in the back it has a 2-page spread for the upcoming year with each month getting 3 lines; anniversaries & birthdays the same; 4 pages for names & numbers; 2 pages for gift ideas; a page for zodiac signs and birth stones, a tip card, and 2 pages for notes. A rubber band from the back cover can be looped around the front to keep it closed.
The pages of this calendar are thick, the binding is very sturdy: the signatures are actually sewn. The cover is tough with no signs of cracking or scuffing and very minimal edge wear. After 3 months of carrying around in a purse, it looks practically new.
The paper is not absorbent, which is good because ink won't bleed, but it also sits on the surface for a while without drying and is apt to smear. I chose a Pigma Micron pen after trying a Pentel Needle Tip. You may want to test some pens in an inconspicuous place in the book.
I'll see how I feel about how I'm using it in December, and if I continue with the project, I'll buy another one for next year.
