Sexy!!! (2008-01-12)

There is only one word to review this calendar: Sexy. It is a profound look into what the imagination can accomplish by not seeing the obvious and feeling the beauty of every one of these girls even though sometimes you don't see their faces, just a part of a body that probably belongs to an angelical face. Every thong, shoe, leg, is beautifully crafted for every month.

I purchased 2 of these. one had purple ink all over it and they wouldnt exchange it. they claimed to be out. A friend of mind then ordered one... so they werent out... they just didnt want to do the exchange

Perfect (2009-01-10)

This was a great calendar. I used it all last year and I also used the 2007 one faithfully. I loved the rubber band, I could put coupons and other free papers in and they would stay put. I am disappointed that 2009 isn't exactly the same.

Makes a good daily journal (2008-03-29)

This calendar presents each week on a two-page spread. Each day gets a 3 inch by 1.5 inch area.
It has 3 years at a glance in the front, and in the back it has a 2-page spread for the upcoming year with each month getting 3 lines; anniversaries & birthdays the same; 4 pages for names & numbers; 2 pages for gift ideas; a page for zodiac signs and birth stones, a tip card, and 2 pages for notes. A rubber band from the back cover can be looped around the front to keep it closed.
The pages of this calendar are thick, the binding is very sturdy: the signatures are actually sewn. The cover is tough with no signs of cracking or scuffing and very minimal edge wear. After 3 months of carrying around in a purse, it looks practically new.
The paper is not absorbent, which is good because ink won't bleed, but it also sits on the surface for a while without drying and is apt to smear. I chose a Pigma Micron pen after trying a Pentel Needle Tip. You may want to test some pens in an inconspicuous place in the book.
I'll see how I feel about how I'm using it in December, and if I continue with the project, I'll buy another one for next year.

Past calendars (2007-09-07)

The pictures were pretty good, but when Judy Francesconi was doing the photography they were amazing. I don't know if I continue to get Provocateur next year, but I will definitely want to see the photos before ordering it next time.

blues power (2008-01-18)

Richly textured drawings in the Crumb style. I've always loved his obsessive pen and ink technique, but it' nice to see him tackle new subject matter--the Blues. Features lesser known blues musicians, like Charley Patton and Johnny Dodds. And the April illustration of Memphis Minnie really rocks! Just one question: where's Skip James?

Not quite what I expected (2008-02-09)

I ordered this for my wife, an artist. I didn't realize it was really just a coloring book. I was looking for something more instructional. If you are looking for a "water coloring book" it fits the bill!

Wonderful for artists who want to try watercolor (2007-10-08)

What a fantastic way to learn! I am going to try more "Lesson a Day" calendars, because this one is terrific. I couldn't wait until 2008 to start and have painted 3 days worth. Each day's lesson teaches you something about mixing colors, outlining, techniques, etc. You follow the styles of famous artists, which is a good way to learn and try different styles. I have learned so much in just a few lessons. I am a busy working mom and don't have time to take a class to learn, so this is perfect. The projects are small, so only take a brief time to finish. Some of them are suitable for framing, then turn out so pretty! I may buy more of these for Xmas gifts.
